Coachella Valley farmworkers to receive settlement payments over unpaid wages, missed breaks

COACHELLA, Calif. (KESQ) — Coachella Valley agricultural workers are set to receive settlement payouts Friday following a labor dispute involving allegations of unpaid wages and denied meal and rest breaks.

The workers will gather at the TODEC Farmworker Justice Center in Coachella to share their experiences and receive their settlement payments directly from the California Labor Commissioner.

The event will include representatives from TODEC Legal Center, the California Labor Commissioner, the California labor secretary, impacted farmworkers and their families.

The timing is especially significant as Labor Day weekend begins — a holiday meant to recognize the contributions and achievements of American workers.
