32-year-old man killed in crash Saturday in Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Calif. (KESQ) - A 32-year-old Beaumont man was killed in a crash on Saturday in Whitewater, the California Highway Patrol announced.

The solo-vehicle crash was reported just before 1:30 p.m. on Tamarack Road, west of Rushmore Avenue.

Police said the preliminary investigation suggests the man was driving at a high rate of speed, 
westbound on Tamarack Road. When he approached the Rushmore Avenue intersection, the driver failed to stop and proceeded straight through the intersection, where the vehicle overturned several times into the open desert.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

His identity has not been released by the coroner's office.
