Fire at French vacation home for adults with disabilities kills 9 people and 2 more feared dead

PARIS (AP) — At least nine people have died after a fire ripped through a vacation home for adults with disabilities in eastern France. The head of rescue operations said crews were searching Wednesday for the bodies of two more people who were feared dead. The local administration of the Haut-Rhin region said 17 people were evacuated from the home and one person was sent to a hospital with serious injuries. The secretary general of the local administration said the people staying in the dwelling included adults with “slight intellectual disabilities.” He said 10 vacationers a person accompanying the group are believed to be among the dead.
