Seasonal start to the week before cooling returns

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – It's a gorgeous Sunday in the desert! Clearer skies returned for today and we've warmed near seasonal. We're tracking more warmer and seasonal weather for the start of the week before a cooldown starts on Tuesday.

Temperatures stay in the 80s through dinnertime tonight before falling into the 70s as you wrap up your Sunday night. Consider an extra layer tomorrow morning as lows are expected in the 60s!

We'll warm up slightly compared to today; highs are expected right near seasonal (90°F) for Monday.

By Tuesday, a low pressure system looks to move into the region. That'll help cool temperatures, but it also brings some rain and wind chances. Models are in disagreement about timing right now, but rain totals don't seem too impressive for the desert. According to our FutureTrack models, we have some potential for scattered showers late Wednesday into early Thursday.

We look to fall into the 70s on Thursday and Friday as the low brings cooler conditions. We'll be keeping a close eye on what impacts we could see as our models get more refined throughout the week. Stick with us!
