Actor Pierce Brosnan pleads guilty to walking in Yellowstone park thermal area, must pay $1,500

MAMMOTH, Wyo. (AP) — Actor Pierce Brosnan, whose fictitious movie character James Bond has been in hot water plenty of times, has pleaded guilty to stepping off a trail in a thermal area while visiting Yellowstone National Park last November. Brosnan was fined $500 and ordered to pay $1,000 to Yellowstone Forever — a nonprofit organization that supports the park. A second petty offense was dismissed during Thursday’s hearing. Brosnan walked in an off-limits area at Mammoth Terraces in the northern part of the park on Nov. 1. The terraces are a scenic area of mineral-encrusted hot springs bubbling from a hillside. Brosnan’s attorney was not immediately available for comment.
