Mother gives birth to baby boy on side of 215 freeway in Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KESQ) - A baby boy was born on the northbound Escondido (215) Freeway in Riverside today, according to the California Highway Patrol.   

Officers from the CHP and the Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a baby being born on the freeway north of Eastridge Avenue at around 2:35 a.m. Saturday.

When authorities arrived the baby boy had just been delivered with the help of his grandmother and his aunt. The mother, father and baby were taken to a hospital.

The baby's grandmother told Onscene TV that the family was on the way to a hospital, but had to pull over to the side of the freeway when they saw the baby was already coming.
