KESQ

Deputies arrested three teens in La Quinta and discovered they may have been involved in a previous burglary.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, deputies were called to the 54400 block of Avenida Rubio on Tuesday at around 12:10 p.m. to respond to a report of trespassing. A neighbor told deputies they heard glass break at a residence and saw three Hispanic male juveniles in a backyard.

Three teens, who deputies say matched the description of the suspects, were located on Avenida Vallejo and Calle Potrero not long after the original report.

All three were taken into custody.

A 16-year-old was arrested for a no-bail grand theft warrant. Another 16-year-old was arrested for violation of probation. A 15-year-old was booked for possession of brass knuckles.

All three teens were from Indio, according to a department news release.

During the arrests, deputies said they found watches that were believed to have been stolen. The watches were collected for safekeeping by the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team.

Later that same day, at approximately 3:40 p.m., deputies went to the 54400 block of Avenida Alvarado in La Quinta, the site of a past burglary. Investigators were able to determine that the watches found on the three teens were stolen from the location, along with other property.

The Sheriffs Department added charges of residential burglary to the teens. The department is also seeking to add gang enhancement charges.

The La Quinta Special Enforcement Team is asking anyone with additional information to contact Deputy Rodriguez at the Thermal Sheriff’s Station by calling (760)-863-8990.
