Man pleads guilty to robbery, carjacking attempt in Palm Desert

RSO

A 19-year-old man who robbed and attempted a carjacking in Palm Desert last year pleaded guilty to felony charges today.

Linnell Letice Wilson of Palm Desert pleaded guilty to one felony count each of attempted carjacking, robbery, and making criminal threats to cause death or great bodily injury. He also admitted aggravating factors of causing bodily harm, engaging in violent conduct, having a vulnerable victim, and making a plan.

He was scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 10 at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.

Deputies from the Palm Desert station responded to the 77000 block of Michigan Drive at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 30 on a report of an attempted carjacking and robbery, according to Sgt. Travis Mountz of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Wilson was subsequently identified as the suspect.

"A search warrant was granted for Wilson's residence,'' Mountz wrote in a statement. "During the service of the search warrant, property belonging to the victim was located inside Wilson's home."

He was arrested at around 2:30 a.m. the following day, according to Mountz.    Wilson remains held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
