Palm Springs Police responded to reports of people having public sex along the Bud Furer Trail Area.

The Bud Furer Equestrian trail area is located on the 900 block of South El Cielo Road.

The department announced Monday night that they have received multiple instances of inappropriate behavior in public spaces.

"Community members got a hold of us and said they really had a problem with trying to take a walk in one of our nature preserves as well as some private property because people were having sex in public," said PSPD Chief Andy Mills.

Police said this crime undermines the ability of all neighbors to use and enjoy the space.

"The trail is cherished by residents and visitors alike for recreational, tourism, and family activities. PSPD is committed to preserving the area for all to enjoy. In light of recent events, we want to assure the public that we are taking measures to make it a safe place for all to enjoy," reads a PSPD announcement. "PSPD urges all community members to report any instances of lewd behavior to ensure the continued safety and enjoyment of all public spaces in Palm Springs. PSPD’s goal is to educate, prevent and then enforce, as needed."
