Coachella Valley Cannabis Alliance Network hosts public event on cannabis education for wellness

Cannabis continues its rise in popularity as more states legalize its use either as a medical or recreational drug.

And on Wednesday, the "Coachella Valley Cannabis Alliance Network" is presenting a public event on cannabis education for wellness.

The event will be held in Desert Hot Springs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Topics include the history of cannabis, CBD, new research, and how the drug affects the body.

Organizers say people with certain medical conditions might benefit from learning more about cannabis.

"Are you seeing more people with medical conditions turning to cannabis to help treat their symptoms?" News Channel 3's Peter Daut asked Sherri Mack, founder of The Green Nurse.

"Yes, we are, because the conventional system has been broken for a very long time. And so we're seeing patients come to us that want to bridge the gap that pharmaceuticals don't provide," Mack answered.

Mack added, "People are making great medicines, people are selling great medicines, but nobody interprets how to use cannabis and CBD as a medicine holistically for patients, and that's what we do."
