Local Hanukkah safety precautions in a time of war 

Hanukkah starts on December 7. Amid the Israel-Hamas war, the local Jewish community in the Coachella Valley is navigating celebrations during the holiday season.

A collaborative statement from the Departments of Homeland Security and Justice to local, state, and federal law enforcement cautions that organizations like al Qaeda and ISIS will likely use the Israel-Hamas war "to increase calls for violence in the U.S. during the holiday season compared to prior years." Churches, synagogues, and members of the Jewish community have been named as "primary targets."

We are speaking to Jewish leaders in the community about their efforts to worship in times of unsettling backdrop while keeping safety in mind.
