Woman accused of sexually abusing Banning child pleads not guilty
A 30-year-old Banning woman accused of sexually abusing a child for nearly a year pleaded not guilty today to multiple felony charges.
Reyna Virginia Rincon was arrested in July following a Banning Police Department investigation.
Rincon posted $100,000 bail that kept her out of custody. She is charged with two counts of lewd acts on a child, oral copulation of a minor and unlawful intercourse with an underage person.
The defendant was arraigned before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Joshlyn Pulliam, who scheduled a felony settlement conference for Feb. 7 at the Banning Justice Center.
She remains free on bond.
According to police, investigators received information last June 28 that a youth, whose identity and gender were not disclosed, "was being sexually abused'' by the defendant.
"(Investigators) also discovered that the abuse had been occurring since September 2022,'' Spokeswoman Sol Avila said.
Detectives obtained sufficient evidence to procure an arrest warrant, which was served on the defendant at her apartment on Westward Avenue on July 6, when she was taken into custody without incident.
Rincon has no documented prior felony convictions.
