Get your Greek on! Thousands attend Greek Festival in Palm Desert

Greek treats were enjoyed by many over the weekend in Palm Desert.

During the 26th annual Greek Festival, organizers said all of the food was prepared on site.

Visitors also had a chance to tour Saint George Greek Orthodox Church of the Desert.

It featured colorful mosaics, which showcased the rich history and traditions of the Greek Orthodox Church.

Church member Nick Latkovic said, "We have a long, long heritage. Most of us came to this country in the early 1900s with nothing." He also said, "Like many other cultures, we built up, and we wanted to ensure we had a good religious foundation for our children and our grandchildren, etc. It was critical, and we feel we have been successful."

Rhonda Latkovic, who was a vendor at the event, said net proceeds from her sales would go to City of Hope. It is an organization that was dear to her since she is a cancer survivor. Latkovic said she was Greek by marriage but loved its traditions. More information about Latkovic, can be found here.

Saint George Greek Orthodox Church of the Desert is located at 74-109 Larrea Street in Palm Desert. You can learn more here.
