HARP-PS executive director discusses Monkeypox response, vaccine distribution

More local health advocates are also pushing for more monkeypox vaccines in the Coachella Valley.

They're also in agreement with Palm Springs Mayor Lisa Middleton in making the case that the region is unique as a tourism area with a large LGBTQ population and that's why it's important to be proactive.

Right now, the monkeypox vaccine supply in our valley is small

Jeff Taylor, the executive director of the HIV and Aging Research Project Palm Springs, said that needs to change quickly.

"It's kind of another painful reminder for us in the LGBTQ community that our needs and our health are not top priority for our public officials, and we're hoping that will change," Taylor said.

On Tuesday, July 26, the HIV and Aging Research Project Palm Springs will host a "Monkeypox Community Town Hall" Zoom meeting. The meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. To register, visit: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/upAtdOGgrjIqID2FKB48CipSMZ7dsTicww
