14th annual Healing Field event to take place, volunteers needed
Veterans Day is Monday and the Rotary Clubs of Cathedral city are preparing for their 14th annual ‘Healing Field’ event at Patriot Park in Cathedral City.
Volunteers are going to gather at 8 a.m. Friday to prepare the field to set up more than 5,000 flags. The flags will be placed on Saturday. They honor the 7,012 men and women who have died in service to our country since 9/11.
Organizers say they need about 100 volunteers to show up and help both mornings. Volunteers are also needed to attach the name tags to the flag poles. Each tag bears the name, rank, branch of service, age, and hometown of each fallen hero.
Anyone is welcome to show up and help at 8 a.m. Friday and then again at 9 a.m. Saturday for the official ceremony.
