Traffic was clearing after police and medics responded to a major injury collision involving a motorcycle and a white sedan Thursday morning on State Highway 74 just south of Palm Desert.
The crash was reported at 7:20 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Southbound Highway 74 traffic was backed up in the uphill direction, and northbound traffic was also moving slowly downhill after being stopped for a time.
The motorcyclist was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center. There was no word on the rider's condition, but the collision was listed as a major injury by the CHP.
Traffic was moving again as of 8:45 a.m.
