Pedestrian struck by vehicle in Coachella, nearby roads shut down

A pedestrian is on their way to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle Thursday evening in Coachella.

The collision occurred on Calle Estrella and Calle Rosa at approximately 6 p.m.

Deputy Robyn Flores, public information officer for the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, confirmed that the pedestrian is breathing and talking. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.

No information on what led up to the crash was available at this time.

Flores added that drivers are asked to avoid the intersection for the next couple of hours.
