Injured hiker airlifted by CHP helicopter in Indio, refuses further medical treatment

An injured hiker was airlifted from a trail in Indio Friday, but refused further medical treatment after being evaluated by paramedics at the trailhead.

The hiker, whose age and gender was not specified, suffered a medical emergency while hiking around 12:42 p.m. on Pushwalla Trail. CHP's H60 helicopter responded to the scene and transported the hiker to firefighters.

The paramedics then evaluated the hiker, who refused further medical treatment, according to CAL FIRE.

The last time a hiker was rescued from Pushwalla Trail was in November.
