Firebirds split two-game series with 4-3 loss to Wranglers

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) The Coachella Valley Firebirds fell to the Calgary Wranglers 4-3 on Saturday at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

In the first, the Wranglers opened the scoring with a goal from Sam Morton.

In the second, Hunter Brzustewicz gave Calgary the 2-0 lead, but the Firebirds responded 2:37 minutes later. Carson Rehkopf tallied his second goal of the season to trail 2-1.

In the final frame, Lukas Dragicevic buried his first goal of his AHL career and made the game even at two.

Morton and Brzustewicz found the back of the net to take the 4-2 lead, but the Firebirds never gave up. With eight seconds remaining, Oscar Fisker Molgaard lit the lamp to seal the 4-3 final.

Victor Ostman started in the net for CV and saved 22 shots on goal.

The Firebirds fall to 2-3-1-0 on the season. Coachella Valley will return home and play the San Diego Gulls on Thursday, October 30th. Puck drop is at 6:30 PM.
