Couples, Els, Daly commit to Galleri Classic March 25-31

KESQ

The Galleri Classic will have Fred Couples, Ernie Els and John Daly returning to play in this year's tournament next month, officials announced today.

The tournament is set to be held at the Mission Hills Country Club from March 25 to 31, according to a statement from tournament officials. It will feature 78 PGA Tour Champions playing 54 holes of stroke play for a $2.2 million purse.

"(Couples, Els and Daly) are a true power trio on PGA Tour Champions. It's no surprise that their fan galleries are consistently among the largest at any event on this circuit, and we are ecstatic to welcome them back to the 2024 Galleri Classic,'' tournament director Michelle DeLancy said in a statement. "These golfers have enjoyed many of the sport's peak moments, be it major championships, holding top-ranked world status or accepting Hall of Fame induction."

Couples, who was once a part-time resident of the Coachella Valley, is a 1992 Masters champion, holds two PGA Tour Champions major titles and won the Charles Schwab Cup Championship in 2013. Els, who is regarded as one of golf's finest players from South Africa, has raised the 1994 and 1997 U.S. Open along with 2002 and 2012 Open Championship trophies as part of his 19 career PGA Tour victories.

Both are World Golf Hall of Famers, Els inducted in 2011 and Couples in 2013.

Daly, who first made his name on the PGA Tour with his long-drive exploits, won the first of his five PGA Tour titles at the 1991 PGA Championship and, in 1995 when he won The Open Championship, became the youngest player to get two major championships on the PGA Tour.

The trio joins 2023 PGA Tour Champions Player of the Year Steve Stricker and defending champion David Toms, who are also committed to the 2024 Galleri Classic.
