DEL basketball – Xavier Prep girls make history, Shadow Hills boys keep title hopes alive

The Desert Empire League basketball season comes to a close on Wednesday.

But the girls champion has already been decided as Xavier Prep defeated Rancho Mirage on Monday, clinching an outright championship. This is the Saints first basketball league crown in program history.

The Lady Saints are 9-0 in the DEL and could finish a perfect 10-0 if they win on Wednesday at Shadow Hills.

On the boys side, the league champion is still undecided after Shadow Hills defeated Palm Springs on Monday, 52-38. The two teams split their two-game series this season with both earning road victories.

The Knights and Indians are tied at 8-1 in the DEL with one game remaining on Wednesday.

As of now, they both have a share of the league title but Wednesday's results could change the final standings. Palm Springs is at La Quinta, while Shadow Hills is at Xavier Prep.
