Wednesday 2/12 – Prep playoff boys basketball, boys soccer and girls water polo

The CIF-SS playoffs are fully underway for the winter season with boys basketball, boys soccer and girls water polo the featured sports on Wednesday night.

For boys basketball, we have 7 local teams in action in 5 games total. After Wednesday night, five teams are moving on to the 2nd round. Palm Springs, Shadow Hills, Xavier Prep, La Quinta all represent the DEL with Cathedral City the lone DVL team still standing.

As for boys soccer, three teams are onto the 2nd round with Desert Mirage, DHS and Indio still alive in their respective division.

And in girls water polo, DEL champion La Quinta lost to Rosary in their opening round of Division 3, ending a 26-year run for head coach Cal Lowell who is retiring.

However, RM won their respective game in D7 and are onto the 2nd round.
