Student Athlete of the Week – AnnMarie Patterson
La Quinta girls hoops is looking for a statement season. The DEL is extremely competitive. LQ will feed off their seniors, one in particular is AnnMarie Patterson. Great person, wonderful player, and one of the top students on campus.
“She was on varsity since her sophomore year when we pulled her up,” said La Quinta head coach Electra Viveros. “We saw her playing JV a couple of games and I realized right away that we could use her.”
“Her role has really evolved starting last year. She started becoming a force for us,” said Viveros.
“I love the game I love the team aspect,” said Patterson. “Getting to be apart of something and competing for something is something I have always loved.”
Patterson has a tireless work ethic. She gives it her all on the court and in the classroom.
“One of the coolest kids you’ll get to meet. She is highlight intelligent and very modest about it. She keeps it under rap she wants you to think she is just average,” said Viveros. “4.8 this last semester.”
“I think academics are very important especially for my future. I feel that if I do well academically I will have so many more options and opportunities to do whatever I want to pursue,” said Patterson.
“There is nights where I get a little, 3 or 4 hours, of sleep. But if you make it work you make it work and that’s what I love to do.”
Patterson reminds us that passion prevails. Coach Viveros tells me she is one of her all time standouts.
“Really different and unique,” said Viveros.
Patterson says she is soaking in her last season.
“Just embrace all the moments because this is a unique experience that you’ll never get back so I’m really excited to make the most of it,” said Patterson.
