PGA West opens brand new Performance Lab

LA QUINTA, Calif. (KESQ) PGA West had a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of its new Performance Lab.

"It's a little bit surreal," PGA West Executive Director Ben Dobbs said. "You know, we've been working on this for so long, but it's all come together so quickly, and you set out with a vision and to actually look behind us and be able to see that what we've created, then that our vision did come true through a lot of hard work. It was amazing."

PGA West and La Quinta City officials gathered today to celebrate the grand opening of their new performance lab—a cutting-edge facility designed to enhance the golf experience for everyone.

"The idea in creating this space is to help golfers expedite the learning process and be able to really give them concrete answers as to what's going on and what might need to be better in each of their games," said the director of golf instruction at the PGA West Golf Academy, Bryan Lebedevitch.

The state-of-the-art performance lab features two simulator bays, a 16-foot Zen putting stage with putting software, Trackman monitors, custom club fitting, and more!

The ability to tilt the ground, measure ground force, put people in 3D, and look at video all at the same time makes us different," said the director of golf instruction at the PGA West Golf Academy, Bryan Lebedevitch.

The new facility is open to members and non-members, but could also attract PGA Tour professionals come January.

"The American Express is at the early part of the season where many of the pros are still honing their game, and so they are already reaching out to us, trying to make sure that they get some time in our performance lab to have the golf professionals and their instructors be able to use it. So it's exciting times," PGA West Executive Director Ben Dobbs said.
