Gallo twins lead Desert Christian Academy forward to future success
BERMUDA DUNES, Calif. (KESQ) Despite a first-round playoff exit for the football team at Desert Christian Academy, the future is bright with the help of Freshman twins Mario and Eusebio Gallo.
"Coming in as high schoolers, they already knew what it takes to win, and that was always their mentality is how can I win," Conquerors assistant offensive coordinator Roy Rosales said. "How could I perform at a high level right now? So that's where the biggest thing is for them. This is nothing new. They've been doing this since they were little kids."
Football is a team sport. Teammates are always working together trying to get in sync to achieve success, but when you're twins, that chemistry and connection is natural at birth.
"To have someone that cares about you, someone that like actually wants to throw the ball to you and to celebrate with him, it's a great opportunity to be with him," freshman wide receiver Eusebio Gallo said.
Competing alongside your brother is rare. Competing alongside your twin is even more so, and both boys know how cool this opportunity is.Â
"It feels good because like I don't get on the spotlight," freshman quarterback Mario Gallo said. "He does too that I get to throwing the ball."
The Gallo twins are a part of the youth movement at DCA and despite a disappointing defeat in the playoffs this year, the Conquerors are building something special for years to come.
"Every practice is just like a game, so when the game happens, it's normal for them," Conquerors assistant offensive coordinator Roy Rosales said. "They've installed that type of attitude to every single person in this team, and that's why we're able to come in ready when it's game time regardless of who we play. We have a standard, and we play to that standard, not to the team."
