Inside the Win: Rancho Mirage defense continues to shine in Week 2 for 28-12 win

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – The Rancho Mirage Rattlers are back-to-back headliners for Inside the Win.

The Rattlers faced the Coachella Valley Mighty Arabs on Friday at home. Rancho Mirage came in on a high after defeating Yucca Valley 19-7 last week. Now, they advance to 2-0 this season with a 28-12 win over Coachella Valley.

In Week 1, the Rattler's defense proved powerful, forcing four turnovers. Week 2 against the Mighty Arabs was no different, as the Rattlers boasted seven sacks.

Coachella Valley was a strong team last season, earning the Desert Valley League title for the second straight year, and finishing 7-6 overall. Rancho Mirage head coach L.D. Matthews said the win was a testament to his defense, as they held the Mighty Arabs to just two touchdowns.

"Hats off to our defense," Matthews said. "To really hold a Coachella Valley offense, that's very potent...is really remarkable. But, just really happy with our guys. It's been a while since we've been 2-0. Two hard fought games."

While the Rattlers still have aspects of their game to clean up on offensive, with numerous penalties and two interceptions on Friday, quarterback Cael Woody said his O-line still stood out.

"They really stepped up a lot tonight," Woody said. "We were able to run it right through them because of the O-line."
