Today, the normal for Palm Springs is 70°. We started off with a low of 46° and warmed up to 65° degrees. This is a few degrees warmer than yesterday. Tomorrow we will continue to see a gradual warming trend. In fact, this slight warming will continue through Tuesday with an area of high pressure warming and drying the region.

An area of low pressure moves in Tuesday night through Wednesday bringing another round of rain chances and mountain snow. Rain amounts for the desert, as of now, looking to be between one-tenth to one-third of an inch. Snow elevations will be much higher than the previous system that moved through the region. Snow is only expected in elevations above 7000 ft. This storm could bring areas of south to southeast gusty winds. The area of low pressure moves to the east quickly by Wednesday night. Some light precipitation is possible for the following weekend ahead of a weakening cold front. We will continue to watch these chances heading closer into Saturday.

Today is December first, which means it is the first day of Meteorological Winter! Meteorological winter runs from December 1st through March 1st. It is based on being climatologically the coldest three months of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Astronomical Winter, which we consider the start of the season, begins December 21st. This is based on the position of sun to earth. For Winter, the sun is in the southernmost part of the globe

What will our temperatures look like? The very slight warm-up through Tuesday with rain returning Wednesday and temperatures dropping back into the lower 60's.
