Drying trend and extreme heat this weekend

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – We've had a nice reprieve from the oppressive humidity that we've felt over the past few days so far today.

Dew point temperatures are running in the mid 40s to low 50s across the valley this afternoon. The moisture hasn't fully left, but it is decreasing!

Sunday looks to bring more widespread 40°F dew points, making things feel better.

Drying conditions means it won't feel *as* hot, but temperatures will rise, too. We remain under an Extreme Heat Warning through next Friday as temperatures look to stay in the one-teens for the next week.

Temperatures so far have crept near 115°F in Palm Springs this afternoon. Expect similar conditions on Sunday, though a slight touch "cooler."

The ridge dominating our pattern shrinks slightly through Monday, but expands for the rest of the week. That will lead to hotter conditions, particularly on Wednesday and Thursday. We have 115°F listed right now, but highs closer to 117°F certainly aren't out of the question. Do your best to stay cool this weekend and beyond... we're in for another scorcher!
