Trick-or-treaters beware! Tracking rain chances late on Halloween and into Sunday

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – Happy Halloween, everyone! It's been a wet night in the Coachella Valley. As you make your way home for trick-or-treating or Halloween parties, be sure to drive safely – the roads will be slick & visibility has decreased.

Since around 6 o'clock, widespread showers have been creeping across the valley. Doppler radar isn't showing any big downpours in our area, but the light rain we have seen has been consistent.

Chances to see more moderate, widespread showers throughout Southern California continue overnight. By Sunday morning, though, the rain should become lighter and more sporadic.

Models still vary in terms of rainfall totals, but most estimates aren't too impressive. New estimates have increased our rainfall estimates to 0.1 to 0.2 inches in the valley, with higher estimates staying closer to 0.3 to 0.4 inches. Most of the flooding concern is for locations well to our east, like portions of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah.

Drier and warmer conditions return for much of the week, though we're still set to stay below seasonal. Highs rebound into the 80s by Tuesday – fantastic for the start of November!
