Remaining above average in the 90’s
Palm Springs started with a low temperature this morning of 60° and soared up to 94° for the afternoon high. Normal for Palm Springs for this day is 81°. Temperatures will continue into the 90's Saturday afternoon and stay above normal through next week.
Overnight, the dry air will allow temperatures to cool back down into the 50's and 60's.
The reason we are staying with the warmer temperatures is because of an area of high pressure. This area of high pressure will warm temperatures throughout California to be nearly 15° warmer than seasonal averages.
This strong area of high pressure will be paired with a weak area of low pressure to the south going into Saturday. A ridge positioned on top of a trough of low pressure is known as a"rex block" pattern. This pattern seems to stick with us into the coming week.
Continuing with high temperatures in the 90's through Sunday with a slight cooling trend next week. The cooling trend will be very minimal as high's will still remain well above seasonal average. Thursday will see more cooling back into the lower 80's.
