The high temperature in Palm Springs Friday was 85°. The normal is 75°. Temperatures will stay above normal for the beginning of the weekend before they cool down significantly by Sunday.

A storm system is working its way down the west coast through Sunday. This system will bring gusty onshore winds, cooler temperatures, and a slight chance for rain. Most rain chances though, will stay off to the west of our area.

Gusty winds will be the primary concern for the Coachella Valley. A Wind Advisory goes into effect at 4 p.m. this afternoon and continues through 3 a.m. Monday. Winds will be westerly between 25-35 mph with gusts reaching up to 65 mph, especially for our more wind prone locations. These winds could blow around unsecured objects, cause a few potential power outages, and limit visibilities with blowing sand and dust.

Temperatures will be much cooler as this area of low pressure dips through the region. Dropping from the 80s into the upper 60s. Temperatures will stay cooler for Monday before they warm back up into the upper 70s and 80s for the rest of the week.
