Shifting winds offshore, warming up and drying out

Temperatures in the Coachella Valley stayed below seasonal average Saturday. To end the weekend, temperatures will still remain below seasonal. Palm Springs reached 92° Saturday with the lower 90s still expected this afternoon.

Low pressure still remains to the north and winds remain onshore. Westerly winds tend to cool down temperatures. The Wind Advisory that was issued expired at 5 a.m. this morning but winds will still remain breezy over the next few days. Tonight, winds begin to shift offshore. This means temperatures will warm up and conditions will become drier. This Santa Ana wind pattern will bring elevated fire weather conditions Monday and Tuesday.

Due to the gusty winds, South Coast Air Quality Management District issued a Windblown Dust Advisory through Sunday morning. The gusty winds blow up sand and dust and that can turn air quality unhealthy. It's best to stay indoors to limit your exposure and keep your windows and doors closed.

Temperatures will warm up into the triple digits again this week before we see temperatures cool down near seasonal by the next weekend.
