Hottest day of the year, so far

Thermal has broken the record high temperature for today's date by one degree.

A high temperature of 115° was recorded in Palm Springs this afternoon. Prior to today's date the hottest the city had reached was 111° on May 26th.

An Excessive Heat Warning went into effect at noon today for temperatures over 110°.

Thursday is the final day for the Excessive Heat Warning in the Coachella Valley and we'll be quick to cool into the weekend, paired with plenty of wind.

Shifting to the tropics, Tropical Storm Cristobal is currently weakening as it moves over land in eastern Mexico. Once the storm moves back over water, by Friday, strengthening is expected.
