Increasing moisture and rising temperatures through midweek

A ridge of high pressure is expanding west, aiding in warming temperatures and also steering in more moisture into Southern California.

Showers and storms will become more active over the mountains and High Desert Tuesday and Wednesday as a result of a steadier southeast flow.

School may be back in session for some desert students, but that doesn't mean summer temperatures are over! An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for the Coachella Valley for temperatures up to 114°.

Temperatures remain above normal through Thursday before things begin to change and get interesting. There is a greater opportunity for rain around the Coachella Valley Sunday and Monday, with a big influence being what is still thousands of miles away in the tropics. Check back for updates!
