Rising temperatures into the final weekend of August

An expanding ridge of high pressure will aid in the rise of temperatures into and through the weekend. Saturday's heat risk is 'moderate' meaning a "level of heat (that) affects most individuals sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration." The heat risk will increase to 'major' early next week.

An Excessive Heat Warning will take effect for the Coachella Valley from 10 AM Monday through 8 PM Tuesday as temperatures climb into the one-teens.

Following the excessive heat, temperatures will cool below the seasonal average by the latter half of next week. The weather pattern looks to allow monsoon flow back into the California deserts, so we could be seeing an increase in storm chances on Thursday and Friday. Stay tuned!
