Increasing clouds ahead of the weekend

The peak of the Geminid meteor shower continues tonight! The lack of moonlight will still create an ideal setup to see what's one of the best astronomy events of the year, but more clouds will be drifting overhead tonight in comparison to last night.

Cloud cover will increase ahead of and into the weekend as a low-pressure system nears the west coast. The First Alert Weather Team is keeping our eyes on this system as it does look to bring some rain to the Southland, but will favor areas to the north.

Beyond the weekend, the mid to latter half of next week will be one to watch closely. It's too far out to nail down specifics, but the current precipitation outlook looks to bring rain into Southern California, including the Coachella Valley, Wednesday through Friday.

Enjoy the weekend ahead with high temperatures in the 70s and mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Great conditions to do some holiday shopping around the desert. Dew point temperatures will get a big boost on Monday but the better chance for rain to reach the valley floor arrives Wednesday.

This forecast can change as the event gets closer. The First Alert Weather Team will keep you updated!
