Winds gradually weaken, breezy again Wednesday

Gusty winds have made for a dusty weekend in the desert. Take a look at the peak wind gusts since 3:30 Sunday morning:

  • Whitewater - 80 mph
  • Desert Hot Springs - 73 mph
  • Thermal - 61 mph
  • Cathedral City - 53 mph
  • North Palm Springs - 49 mph

The National Weather Service will expire the current Wind Advisory and High Wind Warning at 10 p.m. Difficult driving conditions, reduced air quality, and challenging visibility continue to be possible until then, but winds should gradually weaken throughout the evening.

As conditions continue to calm down, temperatures will continue to warm to the low 70s. Winds will return on Wednesday, so be prepared for another round of possibly dusty conditions. Warmer temperatures are expected by the weekend.
