Tracking above-normal temperatures all week

Spencer Blum

We are tracking a warm week here in the Coachella Valley! There is an abundance of high pressure over much of the West Coast, with the exception of the Pacific Northwest. The high pressure has pushed the jet stream to the north. This is funneling systems into the PNW and away from Southern California. The high pressure is allowing our temperatures to rise throughout the week. Conversely, below normal temperatures are in store for much of the eastern U.S.

Due to the high pressure, there will be some offshore winds at times this week, but they will remain mostly calm for the Coachella Valley. Looking ahead at the longer term, we still see very warm colors over Southern California. This indicates that we can expect to see highs above the seasonal norm well into next week as well. The 80s are here to stay!

We can expect highs at least 10-15 degrees above the seasonal average this entire week. Wednesday and Thursday look to be the warmest days, but even this weekend will still have highs in the 80s. It doesn't quite feel like December here in the desert.
