Tracking wet weather for New Year’s

As we count down the final hours of 2025, we are tracking a wet New Year's. It's mostly cloudy and relatively warm here in the Coachella Valley today. In anticipation of the wet weather, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for most areas west of the Coachella Valley, ranging from Santa Barbara to Orange County and the Inland Empire. This will take effect at 10:00 PM Wednesday and will remain in effect through 10 PM Thursday.

There will be a few different rounds of wet weather associated with this system. Expect the chance for showers throughout the day on Wednesday. Skies will be mostly cloudy to overcast throughout the day. It will also be a bit cooler than today.

Another round of wet weather will move through Southern California on Wednesday night/early Thursday morning as welcom 2026. A final push of moisture will move through the region late Thursday morning and Thursday afternoon. There is still a lack of complete confidence in rainfall totals. Some models keep us below a quarter of an inch, while others have us exceeding half an inch. Rain chances will drop into the evening.

Expect the chance for showers throughout Wednesday and Thursday. Rain chances fall for the weekend, and the beginning of the film festival, but skies will stay a bit cloudy. There is another chance for some showers next week, but the details are still fuzzy. Expect highs in the upper 60s for the first few days of 2026.
