Extreme Heat Warning stays in place this weekend

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – We're dealing with another weekend of extreme heat here in the Coachella Valley! A lot of folks are in town for Splash House, so be sure to be wary of these summertime highs.

An Extreme Heat Warning remains in place for the valley until 8 o'clock Sunday evening.

The length of this extreme heat and our warm overnight lows continue to contribute to added heat stress locally. We're still seeing moderate to major Heat Risk in the desert this weekend.

Highs tomorrow are set to stay above 110°F.

Added moisture will also continue to make it feel hotter than it actually is. Dew point temperatures stay above 50°F tomorrow... bad news for folks using swamp coolers. The extra moisture also lends itself to some small chances for mountain thunderstorms Sunday and Monday.

Monsoonal moisture continues through Tuesday, but rain chances steadily decrease after that. While highs stay elevated this weekend, gradually cooler temperatures are expected as more moisture moves in Monday and Tuesday. A more robust trough also looks to swing in Wednesday and beyond, bringing a break in the heat towards next weekend. We know what that typically means: increased winds.
