Starting September with spectacular weather

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – It has felt fantastic as we kick off meteorological fall today! Temperatures continue running below seasonal and our moisture is continuing to cooperate with us, so things feel much more dry.

Temperatures look very similar for tomorrow. Highs should run in the low 100s for most valley cities.

A cooler air mass in the Pacific Northwest will continue inching closer our way, which is helping our temperatures feel less intense and below seasonal.

Tropical Storm Marie has formed well south of Baja as of this afternoon. Right now, it's tracking well to our south. Major impacts seem unlikely at this stage; locally, we could see some light rain from the outer bands of the system as it makes its way closer to California. Before it starts weakening, it will still likely be hundreds of miles off the coast. Tropical moisture is set to increase as it gets closer, which means some slight chances of mountain T-storms as well.

Both overnight lows and daytime highs are pleasant over the next 7 days. Increasing cloud cover from those tropical systems is possible for the latter half of the week and the weekend.
