Rain chances clear into Labor Day, but humidity will stick around

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – Widespread showers are making its way through Southern California today, all thanks to Hurricane Marie!

Rainfall totals have been light for the Coachella Valley so far. Most cities have seen somewhere between 0.1" and 0.2" of rain. Mountain regions, the High Desert, and spots west of the San Gorgonio Pass have received higher amounts of rain.

Hurricane Marie is maintaining hurricane strength, but is expected to weaken this evening and into Labor Day. Its track still places it well off the California coast, but we're still feeling its impacts.

Past dinnertime, rain chances will diminish here in the valley, though mid to high level clouds will continue filtering in. We'll start clearing out on Monday, but some mountain T-storms are possible due to the extra humidity.

Tropical moisture from the system will remain in place for most of the week. Dew points tomorrow remain elevated, so expect more muggy conditions.

A warming trend is expected over the next few days. Highs tomorrow will be in the low 100s, but the humidity will make things feel warmer. Heat indices could reach 105°F or higher for Palm Springs on Monday. We'll continue warming day-by-day, likely peaking midweek as a ridge of high pressure moves directly through SoCal. The hot & humid summer isn't saying goodbye for good quite yet!
