Gradual cooldown starts Tuesday ahead of some rain potential midweek

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – It's been a beautiful day in the Coachella Valley as temperatures have stayed near seasonal! We've warmed a bit more than the weekend, but we're close to average. A change is coming, though; a low pressure system looks to move in, bringing cooler temperatures and potential for showers through the middle of the week.

Low pressure begins sliding down the West Coast on Tuesday. This will help begin our cooling trend; we should drop back into the upper 80s locally.

As that system makes its way closer to Southern California, light rain chances for the region begin early Wednesday, mainly impacting the coasts. Rain potential inches further east, closer to the valley, beginning late Wednesday through Thursday morning. Current rainfall estimates are running at less than 0.2" in Palm Springs.

The cooldown begins gradually. Highs look to be a couple of degrees cooler for Tuesday.

We'll cool further Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday should be the coolest day of the week as we drop back into the 70s. As conditions clear on Friday, highs rebound into the mid-80s by the weekend.
