Mulch fire near La Quinta shuts down roadway
A large mulch fire has shut down a valley roadway in the East Valley. According to Cal Fire they responded to a call of a brush fire burning near the 56-000 block of Jackson Street near La Quinta just after 2:00 Friday afternoon.
Cal Fire says that a large mulch pile is on fire and has ignited several palm trees in the area.
Jackson Street is shut down between Airport Blvd and Avenue 58. Emergency crews are asking people to avoid the area. There are no reports that any structures are threatened at this time.
