Palm Springs police arrest two alleged vehicle thieves a day apart
Palm Springs police today released the names of a man and woman arrested for allegedly stealing vehicles a day apart at businesses across the street from one another.
Abraham Romo, 37, of Palm Springs and Megan Lundquist, 30, of Sky Valley, were arrested July 31 and Aug. 1, respectively, in unrelated incidents that police publicized to highlight local property crimes and stolen vehicle thefts, which represent “some of our highest crime statistics.”
Both crimes occurred at businesses along East Ramon Road.
Romo allegedly took off with someone’s car around 4 p.m. Monday. The owner was walking out of a store when he saw his car being driven out of the parking lot, according to Sgt. William Hutchinson. Romo was taken into custody near North Gene Autry Trail and East Via Escuela and charged Wednesday with vehicle theft and receiving stolen property.
Lundquist was spotted about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday standing near a stolen motorcycle in the parking lot of a business complex in the 5600 block of Ramon Road, the sergeant said. An officer watched her get onto the bike and drive to another business in the same complex, and took her into custody in the vicinity of the Del Taco at 5601 E. Ramon Road, he said.
