Search underway for missing hiker

Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a hiker from Ireland whose last known whereabouts were in the Cabazon/Whitewater area.

25-year-old David O’Sullivan planned to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from Southern California to Canada.

He was last heard from in April, but the sheriff’s department was only notified a week ago.

Deputies said teams will be searching near where he was last seen on foot with bloodhounds, vehicles, and by air.

O’Sullivan’s family has started a Facebook page dedicated to finding him and has been reaching out to businesses and “trail angels”, which are people known to help Pacific Crest Trail hikers on their journey, hoping someone will remember meeting him.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s department 1-800-950-2444.
