Two men arrested for driving in stolen car
Two Desert Hot Springs men are in custody, after police say they were driving in a stolen vehicle and in possession of drugs.
On Thursday, at around 2:50PM, a deputy from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department – Morongo Basin Station, observed a 2000 Honda Civic driving in the area of Twentynine Palms Highway and Desert Willow Trail, in Morongo Valley. Through investigation, the vehicle was determined to be stolen from the city of San Jacinto.
The deputy followed the vehicle into Desert Hot Springs and conducted a traffic stop. Desert Hot Springs Police assisted with the traffic stop in the area of Indian Canyon Drive and Mission Lakes Boulevard. The driver, 25-year-old Marco Mayorga, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle. The passenger, 24-year-old Omar Marquez, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. Mayorga and Marquez were booked at the Morongo Basin Jail.
