Registered sex offender arrested for giving drugs to two 14-year olds

A Joshua Tree man is in custody for felony child abuse and other criminal acts. Police say he provided two 14-year old girls drugs at his home.

On Thursday shortly after 6:30PM, the Morongo Basin Station Child Protective Service/Adult Protect Service deputy assigned to investigate abuse developed information that 58-year-old Randy Myers, a registered sex offender pursuant to Penal Code 290, had provided two 14-year-old female runaways with alcohol, marijuana and a large amount of methamphetamine over a several day period at his residence on the 1500 block of Shangri La Lane in Joshua Tree.

One of the females was hospitalized as a result of her severe drug and alcohol exposure. Police say Myers also reportedly had one or more loaded firearms in his residence.

Myers is a convicted felon and a mandated sex registrant. A search warrant was obtained for Myers’ residence and recovered multiple items to include, drug paraphernalia, a loaded shotgun and ammunition.

Myers was arrested and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail for suspicion of felony child abuse, felon in possession of a firearm, and felon in possession of ammunition, where he is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Morongo Basin Station at (760)366-4175. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may contact We-Tip at 1-888-78-CRIME.
