High School Football Preview: 29 Palms Wildcats

For 23-years Coach Martinez has been the head football coach at 29 Palms. Leading this group to 9-conference titles and 3-CIF Semi Finals, and coming off a trip to the semi final a year ago with many of the wildcats coming back.

“3-All CIF players, D’shaun Barrett, KJ nd Hunter Tygart. We have three of the five offensive linemen coming back so we have key many key returners and looking forward to a good season.

A senior class wanting to end things in style.

“Great motivation cause the year before we made it to the quarterfinals, this past year the semi finals, so this year we are expecting to make the finals.”

A 9-4 season a year ago with rotating quarterbacks under center, but Tristan Carpenter graduated and this is D’shaun Barrett’s team to run in 2017.

“D’shaun is an outstanding athlete, he led our basketball team to the CIF Championship, took us to the semi finals last year and an outstanding football player.”

“We were a lot younger last year, a few seniors that led us. Fell short in the semi’s but this year we have a lot of younger guys and I feel like this year is really special for us.”
