Palm Desert business owner found dead along road

A store owner of a popular hobby shop in the valley has been identified as the person found dead in Thousand Palms on Wednesday.

Deputies received a call around on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. on a report of a possible deceased male in the area of Washington north of Varner Road where it turns into Ramon Road. Deputies arrived and found a deceased male.

The Riverside County Coroners Office said on Thursday, that 55-year-old Kevin Koch of Bermuda Dunes died at 11:00 a.m. near the side of the road at Washington St. and Ramon Road.

Koch was the owner of Uncle Don’s Hobbies in Palm Desert. Koch spoke to our cameras after his shop fell victim to having hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise stolen earlier this year.

Earlier this year, Uncle Don’s posted on their Facebook page on June 23rd, the name sake of the store “Uncle Don” DuBose passed away.

Police do not believe foul play was involved in Koch’s death.
